Steelstown under 14s played Doire Colmcille in the Feile Na Nog on Sunday morning past and emerged victorious after a hard fought contest. Well taken scores from Daithi McFeely Eoghan Bradley and Adam Fleming (including a wonderful point of his left foot from distance) saw Steelstown build up a 6 point lead at the end of the first half. However Colmcille playing with a stiff breeze cut the deficit to two within 5 minutes of the re-start and looked to be in the ascendancy. Steelstown dug deep and two quick goals from John McLaughlin and resolute defending from Eoghan Concannon, Luke McCarron and Ruairi McShane broke Colmcille’s resistance and Steelstown ran out victors on a 5.6 to 2.5 score-line. This was a gritty performance by 18 players – too many good performers to mention. Training continues (indoors) at 7.30 p.m. until 8.30 p.m. on Thursday and on Saturday at 11.30 a.m. until 1.00p.m. Players to be there 10 minutes early and bring own drinks.
